South Okanagan
The South Okanagan offers some of the most unique surroundings in the Thompson Okanagan region. Enclosed within three trimmed mountain slopes, surrounded by many lakes, and being Canada’s only desert, you will be amazed by the natural beauty year-round. It is known for its long hot, sunny summers, and pleasant winters.
This part of the region offers the perfect climate to create a large selection of wine varietals, making it the home to the heart of B.C.’s wine industry. Whether you are touring the many wineries on the Naramata Bench, next to Okanagan Lake, or stopping every two minutes at a new winery in Oliver and Osoyoos, you will be able to try any kind of varietal you desire.
The South Okanagan also offers some of the most scenic outdoor adventures. The Kettle Valley Rail Trail winds gently down the hillside into old-growth Ponderosa Pine and lush orchards and vineyards. The Skaha Bluffs, located south of Penticton, are voted as a climber’s favourite. Winter recreation is first-class at Apex Mountain, just a short drive from Penticton.
