2023 Okanagan Culinary Adventure

The Thompson Okanagan region is situated on the traditional, unceded territory of three Interior Salish nations: the Syilx, Secwépemc, and Nlaka'pamux peoples where we are honoured to live, work, and play. The parts of the Thompson Okanagan you will be traveling within is on the land of the Syilx peoples. The Thompson Okanagan, a region that is filled with diverse climates of tall mountains, rolling hills, raging rivers, peaceful lakes, a dry desert, and a temperate rainforest. Here, you will find year round activities that are suitable for thrill seekers, leisure travelers, and everyone in between.

While in Kelowna, check out our energetic downtown and beautiful waterfront boardwalk. Go on a tour of the many local Okanagan wineries, restaurants, craft breweries, cideries, and distilleries. Hit the trails by bike, visit the historic Myra Canyon Trestles, or hike to the top of a mountain. Relax by the lake at one of the many beaches or take to the water for endless lake activities. Penticton (from nsyilxcən snpintktn) is one of just two cities in the world situated between two lakes. Beaches and water fun are part of the summer culture here – dive in like a local and get wet. Okanagan and Skaha beaches feature nearly 15 acres of premium, sandy beach and swimming areas. Along with all of the year-round outdoor recreational activities available, agriculture has been an important contributor to Penticton’s livelihood. There are over 80 wineries in the Penticton area, 8 craft breweries, 2 cideries and 3 distilleries all within easy walking or biking distance of the downtown core.

Itinerary Snapshot:

  • Day 1: Arrive at Kelowna and meet Wine Tours Gone South. They’ll take you to a coffee demo at Bright Jenny Coffee, then a cooking demo with Lakehouse Kitchen before you check in to Coast Capri Hotel. End the day with tour and tasting in West Kelowna.

  • Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel before checking out and heading to a tasting and tour at MotherLove Ferments Kombucha. Enjoy a lunch at Cedar Creek Estate Winery then drive down to Penticton where you’ll stay at Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre. End your day at OROLO Restaurant and Cocktail Bar.

  • Day 3: Grab breakfast from Wayne and Freda Coffee Shop before as E-Bike tour with Pedego Electric Bikes. Enjoy biking along the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, and pick up lunch on the trail from The Bench Market, before a tasting at Hillside Winery. In the afternoon, enjoy a tour and tasting at District Wine Village, then a one night stay at Watermark Beach Resort. End the day with a dinner at The Bear, The Fish, The Root and The Berry at Spirit Ridge Resort.

  • Day 4: Start the day with breakfast from JoJo’s Cafe, and then check out of the hotel and head down to Osoyoos for a visit at the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre. Then, spend the afternoon participating in a hands-on harvest tour at Covert Farms Family Estate. Dinner will be at Backyard Farm Chef's Table before checking into the Hampton Inn back in Kelowna.

  • Day 5: Breakfast at the hotel before a day of traveling home.
