The Indigenous Artisan’s Trail (IArT) Venue hosts events related to Interior Salish arts and culture from it’s location at the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Inspiration Centre on Route 97, above Peachland.

Upcoming Events

TOTA and the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Inspiration Centre are pleased to launch a series of Indigenous cultural events throughout the summer 2023. TOTA has partnered with the region's Indigenous communities to foster a deeper understanding of the Indigenous culture and history, and its role in tourism in the region and Province.

Throughout the summer the Tourism Inspiration Centre will be hosting artisans, vendors, cultural knowledge keepers and storytellers and encourage visitors and locals alike to join us to learn about the region's rich Indigenous culture and history.

These cultural experiences are made possible through funding from Destination BC and Indigenous Tourism BC and under the guidance of Corinne Derickson who is a Westbank First Nation member, Syilx artist, cultural educator, and knowledge keeper.

Background

IArT is a collaboration between TOTA and Indigenous Tourism British Columbia (ITBC). The details of the outside of the trailer are based on the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre which was created using the technique of rammed earth. This process entails the layering of a combination of local soils and minerals to create the beautiful colour variation.

This project was made possible with support from Western Economic Diversification Canada, Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust, Rural Dividend Fund, Rotary Centre for the Arts, and UBC Okanagan’s Indigenous Incentives Program.
